Title: New Game Suggestion.
Post by: Bryce on 12:06, 09 March 12
Hi all those who can code better than me (that's probably 99% of the members here),
although all these re-makes are great, I would really like to see a completely new game for the CPC. I recently became the proud owner of an Android device and have since wasted many otherwise-productive hours playing one particular game.

The game involves the player propeling small avifauna like creatures with the aid of a catapult in order to knock down structures built by green pig like inhabitants. Supposedly because they have an issue with them and seek revenge.

The game, graphics and physics seem like they could easily be done on a CPC too. What do the programmers here think?

Suggestions for the name:
Pissed-off Pigeons
Bitter Blue-tits
Fed-up Fowl
Cantankerous Canaries
Cranky Coots
Spiteful Sparrows
Irate Owls

Bryce.

You're right - nice idea. I guess it could be done, though only with the more simple and small levels...

Indeed, it could be done.
Sort of.

The 2D physics in Angry Birds would bring our beloved CPC to its knees.
And then give it a good whipping.

Utilising a simpler (MUCH simpler) physics model would of course be more feasible.
It'd certainly be an interesting project!

The physics used are almost over done, a much simpler version would still give a very good effect.

P.s. Am I the only person who shakes the phone in the hopes that it might topple some more bits?

No, you're not the only one. :D

I've seen the mini game version on the PSP, and it's slow compared to the Android version. I have no idea how the mini game version from the PSN store is programmed, but a 333MHz processor that has a problem with a simple games' speed should shed some light on the many calculations of the physics engine.

Tried to omit to get involved here. But form a programmers point of view let me just mention one thing. Physics (event the more sophisticated one here) it not the problem at all. The CPC will use less that 10% of the CPU time for calcuations (if done smart). The time comsuming part will be (like always) to draw GFX on screen. Mathematics in general bring to problems for CPU timing. And it's "just" 2D.

One of my games I'm working on takes place in a 3D environment and still mathematics / physics takes very few CPU time.

Do realize "Angry Bryce" on CPC is IMHO not a problem. But people must have time to create it. So give it a try and form a team here.
