It worked but life got in the way and I didn't have time to keep working on it.

A URL like example.com/https://www.cpcwiki.eu/imgs/9/9d/WACCI_magazine_disc_1_side_A_%28issue_1%29.dsk would load the disc image in a browser window.

Having it on a separate website probably wouldn't be worth it, but it might be nice for it to be part of CPCWiki or some other existing website, so that you could browse and "try before you buy" before downloading to USB stick etc.

Problem solved, by a switch to short pins 11 and 12. Thanks for the advice. See this post for a photo and details:

@Rabs created this switch. It arrived today and works perfectly! I am very grateful indeed.

It goes between the CPC and the Gotek ribbon - see photo.

You turn on the CPC, then switch to "B->A" mode, and the external Gotek becomes drive A:

Then "drive A: only" software can be run straight from the Gotek.

When you turn off the CPC, just switch it back to "A->A" mode. Surprisingly, it seems to work when kept permanently on "B->A" mode - but that keeps on the Gotek power light so I guess it might be wiser to switch back to "A->A" before powering off the monitor.

Obviously the CPC will recognise only one drive at a time, so it's an "AB" switch as opposed to the well-known classic "ABBA" switch. That's fine by me as I never had a second drive in the 80s.

Rabs will put it on Github so that anyone can build it.

Amstrad CPC hardware / Re: PicoCPC

With picomem I am wondering if things like this can be done..

Imagine there is the ability to put memory into the cpc memory map as per normal memory expansion.  Imagine you can turn on via some method extra features. Now the extra features allocate a way to communicate with pictogram, ideally it would be memory mapped feature block.

Imagine features like... ability to set a memory window start and end (like the middle 32k if the programmer wants), then operations foe on thst Windows. You can Imagine zero it out as a basic one. But what if more useful ones like... shift all ram up or down x bytes. Basically a pointer to the virtualise start and end window that give the illusion of a massive Lair up or down. Now a game carefully crafted can have super smooth scrolling in 2 directions just by doing a simple instruction.

I am sure lots of cool other instructions can manipulate memory in super useful ways.  Like... fast interbank memory copies. Fast malloc and free.

Excellent game. It adds some nice twists to the Sokoban idea. I have shown the game on a retrocomputing convention a week ago and the people were excited about it. I would also second Herman in that the game looks very polished. Thanks a lot for this game, David !

I have only a couple of mild points of criticism:
  • The game lacks in-game music.
  • I can not enter the level code via the keyboard.
  • Sometimes it would be great to have an undo function. I understand that the levels are not that big but sometimes I am too quick and do a stupid mistake although I knew better. It would be great if I could just undo my last fatal step.

Wow it's crazy good, one of the best cpc ports ever...an equal top 1 port with Alcon I think, hope I didn't miss some others...

Are you trying to push Donkey Kong, Moon Cresta and Defend or Die to number 2?

Partly:
Yes, global search is working.
No, "search this topic" is still broken.

Indeed, when I first saw the second screenshot, I actually thought there was a BBS server for Fuzix running there on the CPC :D
