Hello

I'm trying to record on tape and then read it under Winape.

I'm being very careful with the timings and I've managed to make the time between readings the same as between writings so that I don't get errors due to lags.

When reading, I also read in the middle of the pulse. For example, if I record this:
__--__--__--
I always read where the dots are:
_._-.-_._-.-_._-.-

Everything starts to go well until small errors occur, which gradually become more frequent.

Where is the problem?

Thank you.

Please describe your process in more detail.

Is the tape virtual (wav, cdt) or real? How is the recording done? How is the reading done? Are you using a custom loader or a custom waveform? Does it work on a real cpc? What are the errors?

I was developing a custom loader with winape (wav file) using the PPI port C.
Finally, I changed my approach.

I'm unsure if this is related, but I did try to record a wav file from a tape once and play it back as a wav in WinApe and it wouldn't work at all.

Loaded fine in JavaCPC which I then also used to convert to cdt and then it worked on everything.

WinApe may be useful for debugging purposes, but there are still quite a few things in that emulator that are either out of date or badly broken.
Currently playing on: 2xCPC464, 1xCPC6128, 1x464Plus, 1x6128Plus, 2xGX4000. M4 board, ZMem 1MB and still forever playing Bruce Lee.
No cheats, snapshots or emulation. I play my games as they're intended to be played. What about you?

I find that CPCE and CPCEC have very good tape emulation if you need to save to and/or load from tape.

Retro Virtual Machine is also good for emulating tapes too.
