I recently brought a second hand copy of Lancelot by Level 9... It start to load but after the loading screen comes up, the disc comes up with Read Fail...
I verified the disc using DISCKIT3 and it showed every track was full of errors. Is there anything I can do to get this disc going or is it a dud, no use to anyone? Even if I can get the files of the bloody thing onto a different disc...
Many thanks to anyone who can help!
I'd try with other disk drives, or with someone with a Kryoflux or similar controller.
HI,
Are we talking about this game :

You could try to download it, and copy it back to the original disc. IF You are lucky it could work ! ! !
The safest and probably best solution would be to copy it to a NEW or 100 % working disc.
As for DISCKIT3, it's only useful for DATA, VENDOR or SYSTEM formatted discs. Any other formats including any copy protection, will result in this program giving a lot of errors.
I would personally recommend NIRVANA (by Goldmark Systems) or DISCOLOGY (Meirdien Software). Both of these could handle most types of copy protections.
Hope this could be of any help for You.

You're right. It wouldn't be an ORIGINAL original, but whom are to tell ? ? ?
A working ORIGINAL disc, with the proper ORIGINAL labels and the correct content, is to me an ORIGINAL disc :o ! ! !
I wouldn't be able to spot if the data was transferred to the disc in 2014, or
if this was done back in 1987.

Old 1's from the 80's look completely different to modern 1's! The 0's have changed quite a bit too! It would be obvious that the disk wasn't original! :D
Bryce.
P.s. I have a disk full of original 1's and 0's to sell if anyone is interested :D
The original was sent to the factory to be duplicated. All produced copies with it, was... copies. :-\
I would try other programs or drives but I only have one drive and no way of getting disc images onto real discs....
Yes, it is that Lancelot mentioned on CPC Power...
it is of help, but because I can't act on it and because no people are likely to help me, it's no good.

I can write the image for you and post the resulting 3inch disc. I still have spares [emoji6]
Well, if I send you the discs and return postage, any chance of writing other adventures to disc for me please?
