Title: Rom version of CPM+ on CPC664
Post by: ajcasado on 18:07, 11 February 21
Hi,
I tried to run CPM+ ROM version on a CPC 664 expanded with the M4 Board ROM and the Z-MEM RAM with no success. At best it shows CPM start message and hangs the machine.

Any hint?
I read that Graduate Software delivered the set of roms for the 6128, and expanded 664 and 464, but I have only find the 6128 set so I tried them using also the 6128 basic and os roms in the M4.

Well, you can try to use the CP/M in ROM from my homepage (www.futureos.de (http://www.futureos.de)). Go to downloads, then scroll down-down. There is a set of ROMs for CP/M Plus.

However, I never testet it with the 464/664. The best thing is to test first just with a ROM board (M4 f.e.) and nothing else being connected. Of course 128 KB RAM must be there.  :)

There is a patched CP/M Plus disc version from Dobbertin which does work with 464/664 even without their ability to perform RAM mode &C3 like the 6128 does.

For the Graduate ROMs to work, your machines need a 6128 ROM inside your machine plus 128k memory maximum.

Hi,

It works!!!

I downloaded the CP/M roms from www.futureos.de (http://www.futureos.de) . I disabled the M4 rom and tried first with only the two Graduate Software CP/M roms loaded in the M4.
It worked ok. Then I uploaded the nine utilities roms and it also worked.

It works with the 664 original onboard roms, also with the 6128 basic rom and the 6128 firmware or the FW3.16 in lower rom.

Finally I added parados, M4 frontend and activated the M4 rom. It works!!!

I guess that starting with the rom board emptied was the key.

Another question:

Does this CP/M version supports 80 track double sided formats in a 3.5" second disc, does it supports the dobbertin HD?
I'm trying to use disks formatted with parados with no success. Even formatted in PCW format with Parados as 80T-DS the disks are recognized as 40 track single side format.
GUNHEAD, can you point me to any source of documentation for the utilities in the ROMS from your homepage? Thanks!!.

Glad you got it working!

Here a CP/M Plus version, with 704 KB support for drive B (Vortex, Dobbertin Data and system formats). It also supports all four partitions of the wonderful Dobbertin HD20 and a RAM disc. X-DDOS may be needed at a ROM position lower than Amsdos though. Try it. If there are problem we'll solve them.  :)

The 2nd DSK image you start CP/M from data format using run"c" in BASIC. Saves 8 KB.

EDIT, can't upload it... wait... ehm email me (via my HP). Will send you DSKs
