Different CPC start screens - first line (v1) (d1) - what does it mean?

I'm sure there must be a wiki page about this, but I just couldn't find it.

Turning on my CPC464, the first line says:

"Amstrad 64K Microcomputer  (d1)"

What does the (d1) mean? And what would it have said on the very first CPC464 models?

I think you have seen "v1" that refers to the CPC464.
"v3" refers to Amstrad CPC6128, and "v4" refers to CPC464/6128PLUS.

The regular (English) CPC 464 has v1 which is Version 1 (English ROM/Character map).

Yours is d1 referring to the Danish version 1.
The Spanish version 1 has s1, The French f1.

The country code indicates the ROM/Character map version fitted.

And likewise, the CPC664 will have v2 and the CPC6128 v3 (or associated region/ROM indicator).

According to soft968 the official language variants are: English, Spanish, French and Danish.

So just to confirm; the English CPC464 would always say "v1" regardless of when it was made? I'm thinking of the two different types of keys. The first CPC464 models had tall keys. Then later they changed it into smaller keys.

Yes, the English (ROM/Character Map/Keyboard layout) 464 will always show v1 regardless of 'Tall' key or 'low' key.

So yes, every English 464 will be v1.
Every Spanish 464 will be s1.
Every French 464 will be f1.
Every Danish 464 will be d1.
