Do I really need the floppy drive?

My floppy drive doesn't work. I'm not sure if it's just the drive belt from the sounds it makes, it sounds like the motor is struggling. In any case, I've ordered the M4 Board for my 6128. So Would I really need a working floppy for anything, like running CP/M or games?

Bryce:
If the media / game is on a disk, then yes. Otherwise no.

But I can put the media on the M4 from the internet and not need the floppy, correct?

Now you're answering your own question.

If you mean "Does a floppy need to be physically connected for any software to work" - Then the answer is: There are a few disk related programs that wait for a ready signal (which would no longer come if no drive is connected), but for everything else, they should work with a floppy drive being present.

Thank you Bryce.
