what are the Amstrad CPC/Plus case colours according to RAL colour standard?

Has anyone ever figured out what case colour the Amstrad CPC and Plus is according to the RAL colour standard?

If not, maybe at least for the Plus we can get close as the RAL numbers are known for Commodore machine: Does the Amstrad Plus case colour match any other system or is very close? E.g. one of the late C64 variations or the Amiga?

Why should it have any connection to c64 or amiga? That's different hardware.

See what MacDeath has done, he it an color expert.

Do I hear a 3D printer heating up in the background? :)

Let me rephrase it for you: If you put the Plus next to other 80s/90s computers, is there a computer from another brand, whose case has the same or a very similar colour to the Plus?

If yes, that could help to get the right RAL number as they are sometimes well documented for other systems - but not for Amstrads. I mentioned Commodore as I vaguely remember that there are some variations where the case colour could be similar to the Plus case colour, maybe the newer C64 models. Or maybe the A1200. But I don't know as I have never seen them next to each other - not even on pictures.

not only heating up - I already bought several types of filament but it's still not close enough.

I know the feeling. I bought at least 3 or 4 reels of filament trying to match "Tektronix Turquoise" for a project I was doing. There are a few RAL comparison sites you can use to try and match the colour you are looking for, but the next challenge is then finding that exact colour filament.

That would be still a lot of luck as neither the pictures I have nor the monitor are perfectly calibrated. The best chance I see is to visually compare the Plus in reality to another computer - or to filament - or to a colour chart.

GUNHED

Well, take a look at MSX computers. That's a way to start. I do remember a high degree of similarity, but also it was a long time ago.

I don't think there is a Plus computer with the original color nowadays. The only way to find the original RAL or Pantone colours is to get access to original documentation. Many people here is in contact with Roland Perry, so they could ask him.

Unlikely. Roland Perry was not involved with the Plus development. He was asked a few times about the Plus but not could give a lot of information.

RAL 9004 looks quite promising. But it's not a common filament colour, thus a bit expensive :-(

Didn't know that the CPC 6128 has dark grey keys and light grey keys. ;-)

Btw: For the Plus Chat GPT suggests RAL 7035 as case colour.

I just ordered a colour chart - let's see if that helps.

yes, it's weird. It can be an hallucination or maybe the color of the symbols.

eto

So I bought a colour chart and compared the Plus and GX4000 case to it.

Seems RAL 7035 is a bit too dark but RAL 9002 is really, really close.

RAL9002 filament is unfortunately no standard colour but there are vendors that sell it.

No, but when I 3D print cases for expansions or cartridges, I would prefer them to be as close as possible to the original colour.
