Title: Just a few questions about cpc plus/gx4000 cartridges.
Post by: magentis on 14:05, 08 May 16
Soooo.

I recently picked up a 6128 plus and a 464 plus.They are in rag order(missing keys,cassette door)but amazingly both work.

The problem that I have is that I do not own an os cart,I borrowed one for testing. The only cart I have is a gx4000 burnin rubber cart.

I have put an ad in the classified section in the hope that someone has a spare. But I am thinking if one doesn't come up,I will have to look at changing the eprom on my burnin rubber cart to one with the os on it.I am just wondering is it just a matter of desoldering the existing one, socketing the pcb and putting in an ic with the os on it?I understand the cart pcb has jumper links on it,do these need changing?

If anyone would know where I can buy an eprom or ideally a pcb and eprom that would be excellent!

The eeprom in a electronic shop, maybe they can program it. Im not sure the cost, anyway  this process have some risk acid can die because the heat. Inclusive maybe they can made the job of solding for you.

Its simple socket the eeprom, burn the eeprom/flash and put it in the socket. Pcb is take solder and make the job.

But today with c4cpc the best is  a c4cpc.

Yo don't need change link to os cartridge an the original 27 games. All have 128k

Cheers,

Thanks for the reply.I would be able to do the soldering myself,I have been working hard to improve my soldering skills! I recently got a couple of commodore 1541 drives that were being thrown in a skip that were faulty(i know some people here would say a skip is where they belong),I ended up replacing 2 glue logic chips on each and managed to effect the soldering quite neatly!I am most proud of myself
I take great satisfaction out of getting these computers/drives etc going again,my wife on the other hand is not so impressed!

I don't have an eprom flasher or know someone that has one sadly.I had hoped someone could point me towards a webshop or someone that could sell me a flashed eprom,I wonder if a system rom could be put on a daughterboard within a plus machine? That would be neat!
