Killed my AMX Mouse :(

It had to happen, it accidently connected it to 12V (wrong polarity) and now it just spits out random characters and doesn't respond to mouse movement anymore. I already ordered replacement ICs (for that little box) but I wonder if the mouse itself got fried as well.
Any idea what most likely needs to be replaced?

Many thanks!

Lets hope you get it working again.

It's unlikely that the mouse got damaged. There's more chance that it damaged the AY in your CPC.

Fortunately it wasn't connected ....

Then why did you ask this:

there are 2 components, the little interface box that goes into the joystick-port and the mouse itself thats connected to that box. I tried it again on another CPC, it shows the same behavior so it can't be the CPCs fault.

How on earth did you find yourself in a position where connecting to the wrong polarity was even a possibility ???

The CPC 12V floppy supply connector has inverted polarity and since the mouse has that loop-through-style male/female connector it was easy to get it wrong :/
