Note: Some claim that the "ChristopherJam" or "AL82" palettes are truer than the default "Pepto" one in VICE [https://x.com/hqqns/status/1642090487137067008 Source1] [https://x.com/Al82_Retro/status/1528896694490112000 Source2]. But there is no real color palette anyway as, back in the day, people tweaked their color TV settings at will [https://x.com/level106/status/1493866907090362375 Source]. And CRTs render colors quite differently than LCD displays.

Note2: Many people who diss the Pepto palette haven't understood yet that it's what comes out at the back of the C64, not what's visible on screen. Color saturation, brightness, contrast, gamma and some blur needs to be applied afterwards, because that's what the TV/monitor also does.
