On File

What gap does On File (2025) come to fill? Let’s give an example.
Using On File Register, a register book can be set up with, for example, 5000 citizens of a small town. The Register Book register book is saved on disk (disk 0) and is loaded in RAM of the CPC6128. Then, using On File Database, a full-screen record can be created for each citizen. The records of the database are saved on 26 different disks (disks A-Z), depending on the surname of each resident. The register book is loaded (from disk 0) into memory once and remains there until the end of the work regardless of which disk (A-Z) is in drive B. Upon exit, the contents of the RAM (Register register book, if modified) are saved on disk 0. This can be achieved with an Amstrad CPC6128 with 512 KB RAM expansion and 800 KB external floppy drive.
