Cholo by Firebird
Synopsis:
The surface of Cholo smoulders and glows. No oceans, no trees, no life. Only post nuclear fallout and instant suntan. The days pass slowly in the confines of the bunkers and shelters beneath Cholo's ravaged surface. You pass away your pointless life, working at a terminal and listening to the committee reports from Cholo topside, one piece of software is very popular: "RAT", a computer game guiding robots and roving eyes in and around a shattered city, a city similar to the ones that scatter the surface - maybe too similar. Could you really be in contact with topside? and if so, where is the lethal radiation which is reported in the official committee bulletins?

"Cholo is, looking back to my old computer days, the best game I ever played. Its the one that still sticks with me. AND thats without the fancy graphics or sound that is available these days. Cholo is RIPE for a remake!"

"Cholo is, as far as I am aware, the first 3D environment game with rotating 3D models appearing in a selection window. It also has an area map and salvaging abilities. The game is bordering on ground braking, and probably a forerunner of the modern strategy games format we have today... but sadly the speed kills the game. The problem is, Cholo is an exploration type game that'll have you wondering around for hours until you stumble across something or get shot by another bot, the speed is just way to slow for a game of this type, and eventually it all gets too much. The really scary thing is, I played it for hours as a kid and really enjoyed hacking into other robots and switching machines. I never completed the game until years later, a re-make was made for the PC, with better, smoother graphics and fast game-play. Give the CPC version a try if you must, but don't say I didn't warn you. There is one saving grace for this game however; play it through emulation and up the speed to about 150% and things feel a lot better."
