ATF or Advanced Tactical Fighter, sits you in the pilot seat of one of the most advanced flight defence systems ever built and mission by mission you must destroy enemy bases and aircraft before terrbile things happen. You can load your aircraft with weapons, fuel, missiles and more before each mission but choose carefully, you don?t know how long it?s going to take.

Graphics

At first glance ATF looks very similar to the other flight/defence simulation game ACE by Cascade games but once you go a little in depth it?s obvious which game is the winner. ATF looks more realistic in the fact that a 3D landscape is visible in front of you, you?ll also notice that if you hit the bumpy surface while flying on the ground (a bad idea btw) you?ll see your aircraft bounce up and down as you go, a very nice touch that adds some extra dimension of realism to the game. It?s certainly one of the better flight simulation games the CPC Zone team have come across so far and it puts Cascades ACE to shame in many aspects.

Sound

The sound is also on top notch form with some superb introduction music that helps get you in the mood for kicking bottom, once the game starts you will also be pleasantly surprised by the amount of detailed sound the game itself offers you, explosions, gun shots, bumps you name it and it?s here, a very good job indeed.

Gameplay

Gameplay is not something we can comment on that much because flight simulation games have never ranked high on our list of videogames as never play them for very long on any platform - they usually bore us to tears. ATF on this other hand was a little more enjoyable than most with a pretty easy control system (once you found out what the keys are, those with manuals should refer to them again to refresh your memory) and a very nice 3D landscape approach as opposed to the usual linear graphics more serious simulators provided.
In short it?s all about whether you prefer the fly around and blow everything up, afterburner style, flight game or if you are a more serious flight sim enthusiast that likes to take in the scenery and get the feel of what it?s really like to fly one of those things. We wont say most gamers here at CPC Zone will like ATF but we?re confident that at least a handful would agree with the scores below.
