Another strange game comes out of this foreign software house. Loriciels, never one to release a straight forward game, throw you into a 3D adventure world in which you must stop a deadly virus from attacking further. You will be up against some very nasty defence systems and weird looking viruses but then again, you don?t exactly look normal yourself.

Graphics

As with most of Loriciels titles the graphics contained in Bactron are pretty great, there?s plenty of colours on offer, lots of variation in enemies, well designed and huge level playing areas, lots of engaging puzzles to solve and a whole lot more. Those that have ever played any game similar in style (Head Over Heels, Batman, Hyrdrofool and others) will no doubt instantly recognise the style of graphics Bactron has used, it?s very nice indeed and if it?s not broken - don?t fix it - is what we hear at CPC Zone always say. There?s certainly not many bugs in the game, in fact we didn?t notice a single glitch during play, this of course can only be seen as a good thing.

Sound

Sound is also on top form with a very funky, party styled theme tune at the front of the game (also showing demo footage of the game in action) which is later followed by a very active soundtrack, while not quite as active as other games of the same type (by other developers) it?s still superb and not something we here at CPC Zone found much to complain about. Well done Loriciels.

Gameplay

Gameplay is fairly good too, you star as a strange looking head with legs (Bactron) and you must solve, collect or move items in certain rooms in order to progress throughout the game, keep a close eye on your energy counter though and try not to hit the viruses scattered around each level.
If you?ve ever played Batman or any of the games we mentioned earlier than you?ll probably love this title as it?s pretty much the same thing but with new levels, different characters and an very strange storyline. Once you figure out what you?re actually meant to be doing (we didn?t) I?m sure the game is very enjoyable and considering the developer behind the game it?s all been put together very well indeed.
I know if I bought this game from a car boot sale (we all did that right?) when the CPC was in it?s final years I would have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the game when it finally loaded on my rapidly ageing CPC 464. This is one that?s worth trying even if you don?t have a clue what you?re supposed to be doing!
