Barry McGuigan World Championship Boxing

Barry Mcguigan was one of the worlds most well known boxing champions in the late 1980s, so much so that software developers Activision decided to jump on his name and create this little boxing beat-em-up for your lovely Amstrad CPC. He might be a champ in the ring but how does he do on your CPC, let?s find out.
Graphics
Barry McGuigan boxing was released pretty early in the era of 8-bit home computer gaming but considering it?s age you would think that the game was released much further down the line and easily compares to the quality of the Codemasters boxing titles. Colours are bright and cheerful, characters look nicely drawn and can be customised by the player (much like fans of WWF can with the PlayStation 2 title Smackdown) finish this off with some smooth animation and plenty of punch for your pound and I think you?ll agree that this is one of the boxing winners of this generation.
Sound
Much like the graphical side, Barry McGuigans boxing easily compares to the games that came much futher down the line when you look at the sound. We hear some great music at the front of the game and plenty of sound effects during play to keep you on your toes long enough to knock out your opponent.
Gameplay
As with all sports games the idea is pretty much the same as the sport itself. In this case you simply beat the living crap out of your opponent and hope for the knock out count to hit, face your next opponent and do the same all over again. What makes this title stand out from the rest is that you can customise your own boxer, change his skin and hair colour, give him your own name and much more. There?s very little to hinder your gaming enjoyment and very little bugs throughout the game, considering the age this has to be one of the best boxing titles to ever be released on your CPC.
Well and truly worth adding to your collection.
