Basildon Bond : The Adventures Of
Copyright : Probe | Reviewed by : Malc Jennings
In a spin off to a popular TV comedy sketch show Probe for some strange reason decided to bring the parody that is Basildon Bond onto your home computer, I would have left it on the silver screen but never mind. Basildon is the super spy that manages to bungle every operation he has ever done but insists he is good enough for the job, well that maybe but is he good enough for your CPC?
Graphics
I will instantly agree with Amstrad Actions verdict on the graphics in issue 10 of the famous magazine, while Basildon Bond won?t impress everyone it certainly looks a whole lot better than the game deserves.
Graphics are very well drawn and animated, there are plenty of weird and wonderful enemies to throw your alter-egos at, colours are sharp and there are plenty of them on each screen. The various rooms have been well designed and thought out, it helps to keep the player more interested than he/she would be if the game took a turn for the worse.
Not bad at all.
Sound
I can?t remember the original theme music used in the TV sketch show and therefore won?t compare the music at the start of the game to the original score but it?s still a pretty good tune all in all. There are the occasional sound here and there during the action of the game but even Basildon Bond deserves slightly better, nothing much to complain about but you still feel something is missing.
Gameplay
My bet is that most of you, like me, purposely avoided this game when it was released or bought it just out of curiosity and nothing else. Considering the sketch wasn?t one of the funniest in the world to begin with and knowing the TV conversions have a history for being complete rubbish we must say that Basildon Bond has been very well coded for your beloved CPC.
There are no serious graphical problems and nothing that will further put you off playing and enjoying the game so it might just be worth trying it, it certainly looks the part anyway.
