Blue Star

Another game that ventures into the Galaga realm of gameplay, we all know that there have been plenty of these clones released over time and some developers are still releasing them now but are they ever as good as the original?
Lets find out...
Graphics
Blue Star is a fairly basic looking shoot-em-up that wouldn?t look out of place in the "given away free" range of games that came with your CPC (if you were lucky enough to live in a covered area). Those that have played Galactic Plague will no doubt be familiar with the graphics, chunky, not much colour on offer and very slow indeed. The only distinct difference between the two games is the increase in colour and the non-animated static background, those used to fast paced shoot-em-up action will be left wondering what went wrong with this game as just about anyone with half a brain can defeat the first couple of waves before being destroyed.
Sound
Sound is pretty good however and slightly more active than that heard in Galactic Plague, you are treated to a variety of explosions, well done sounds and gun shots as you defend the world in your tiny space craft. Not brilliant but better than expected.
Gameplay
Gameplay is a little dull, in most Galaga games the scenes will change from level to level and the enemy will become rapidly more challenging. In Blue Star however all you need to do is move left and right, stick your joystick on auto-fire and wait for the level to be completed. There is very little in terms of reward either and you?ll quickly feel like you are going nowere fast.
We know lots of people didn?t like Galactic Plague from the Amsoft packs but give this one a try and you might change your mind about it.
