The home computer scene has just about had every single real life sport converted into a mini simulation for safe experience in your own home, many don?t come close such as 80% of the Codemasters sport range but this bobsleigh conversion is one that you can actually be proud of, why? find out below.

Graphics

If this game had been given to Codemasters then you can put your last £10 on a bet that it would be in a typical stand behind the object (instead of sitting in or being the object) and watch from a stupid point of view. Bobsleigh on the other hand actually sits you in the Bobsled (behind the main controler) as you experience all the twists, corners and near fatal turns of this dangerous sport. The developers even saw fit to add chips of snow coming off the walls if you run into them and a nice finishing effect for slowing down your sled, this is a masterpiece for such an early title.

Sound

Sound is once again on superb form, we have a computerised version of the theme music from BBC Sport (sadly missed) and will instantly be recognised by all Amstrad CPC gamers in the UK for this reason, people outside the UK will no doubt recognise this tune also. The in-game sounds are just as good, hearing the snow woosh by as you fly down the track, the thud as you hit the corner and the slowing down when you hit the net, a truly great example of how sounds should be used.

Gameplay

The idea of this sport is simple, sit in a torpedo shaped sled and fling yourself down a very dangerous roller coaster type track and hope you don?t fall out, land on your head or lob off an arm in the process. Gladly none of these dangers are present in the CPC simulation, unless you sit at your computer in a real life sled and fling yourself down the stairs with the front door open.

Even if this doesn?t appeal to you, and we must admit the idea of a bobsleigh simulation didn?t fill us with much excitement either, we urge you to grab this game and give it a go. It will put any Codemasters sports simulation title to shame without a doubt.
