Boinggg!

If proof was needed that the 8-bit era of computing history was indeed an inventive time in the gaming world then this is it. Boinggg! sits you in control of a "jack in the box" style character who?s single goal is to get from one ledge to the exit in one piece by timing the jumps with the enemies/traps on screen and getting the right amount of bounce.
Graphics
It?s no secret that Boinggg is showing it?s age and that we have personally never seen the game until we played it via the lovely world of emulation. Graphics are a little dated but still kick developers such as Cascade into touch in terms of visual achievement, okay the colours are pretty basic and all enemies are limited to one path but when you go out and buy the Cascade 50 games pack this one looks about 50 times better than anything on that entire collection. To put it another way, this game isn?t going to win any major awards but it doesn?t hinder the game in any massive way either.
Sound
Sound is pretty neat to be honest, sadly there is no music in the game but we didn?t expect that now did we. Upon hitting 1 on your keyboard to start the one player mode you?ll hear some nice drum samples running from speaker to speaker which is then followed by basic but active sounds in the game itself. Sadly we don?t know the name of the developer and can?t give credit to them but we would certainly do so if we knew who they were.
Gameplay
Gameplay is pretty basic, those that have played the classic Amiga title "Bills Tomatoe Game" by Psygnosis will be familiar with the concept. Bounce your character from one ledge to the other by controlling the amount of force to spring with, get all the way to the exit and you?ll progress to the next and slightly harder level.
The game is not without faults, after killing yourself on the first few attempts you?ll notice that you can no longer die and the game over screen will not appear. Quite why this happens is a mystery as the game coding is fairly basic and the problem only surfaces when you are killed the first 3 times and you start a fresh game. This can be seen as a bonus or a bad thing depending on what gaming angle you take but considering the game isn?t overly challenging to begin with it?s not gonna be very entertaining or addictive when you can?t die!
