Bored Of The Rings

Bored Of The Rings is a parody of one of the most successfull books, comics, cartoons and now movies of all time. Personally I prefer to watch Titanic ten times over than sit in a cinema watching this over-rated poop and hope that the book was a little better. Bored Of The Rings sets you along the same old path as the original with a few jokes thrown in for good measure, this isn?t going to be pretty.
Graphics
Bored Of The Rings could have been so much better than this, people who hated the franchise probably snapped this game up and couldn?t wait to get home and get it loaded up. The sad fact is that all they got was a black screen with white text which was randomly followed by poorly drawn and not so greatly coloured illustrations to go with it, there is the odd funny moment in the text but other than that it doesn?t even attempt to breathe new and much needed life into the text adventure series.
And it could have been so much better.
Sound
On the audio side we are treated to a tiny bit of music at the start of the game and possibly a few noises in the game itself but we played for a rather boring 40 minutes before writing this review and a good 60 minutes when the game was first released for the shocking price of £9.99 at my local store and didn?t hear a thing.
A 2/10 for mini-effort I think.
Gameplay
Again if you snapped this game up and waited the 20-30 minutes for the game to load on your CPC you would not be impressed after the first 30 minutes of play and probably took it back to the store to try and swap it for something else, luckily for me I knew the woman who ran our games shop and it was swapped without question.
Bored Of The Rings is exactly what it implies, boring. This is not something that even the most intrepid fan will like to play for long and the lack of a save game feature (at least we didn?t see one) with one HUGE game like this is something of a crime. We expect the flames to come over the hill at any minute for this one but it?s not the best and our beloved CPC is capable of more.
