Mastertronic deliver another great shoot-em-up the Amstrad scene, this was released in the days before Virgin poked there nose in and therefore stands a chance of being a great game. Set in the deep dark areas of space (aren?t they all) you must destroy the enemy motherships who once again pose a serious threat to Earth. Personally I say let them have it.

Graphics

Now this is a game that reminds me of the Amiga days when I first clapped eyes on the marvel that should be known to every true gamer, Xenon by The Bitmap Brothers. The colours are limited in the same way, which actually adds to the playability of the game and takes away unwanted distraction and the details, speed of play, range of enemies and addictability of the game are all 100% perfect.

To many people the game is nothing that hits you in the face and says - Oi! I am a great game matey !! but if you have ever played Xenon we are sure you?ll like the style pulled off in this great looking game.

Sound

Sound is again on truly top form with some superb music at the start of the game and absolutely brilliant in-game effects to top things off.

Nothing is ever over the top in this game and there is always something to please your ears, one to be played with the sound turned up unless you want to miss a big part of the game. Great stuff by Mastertronic, no wonder there are so many fan sites for this software house.

Gameplay

The game is very simple but very addictive at the same time, fly about space and avoid being seen by the enemy ships that will home in on you if you are spotted and shoot you up the arse. Destroy the mothership and get out of there before you end up as a floating dead body and hit one of our weather stations.

Seriously the game does play very well indeed with a great speed and superb control system allowing you to get the most of the game without all the frustration. Even though the colours are basic and it doesn?t hit you in the face it is a long way from being a bad game and we recommend it to any collection.

Go grab it!
