ACE 2

Oh dear, as if the first incarnation of this combat flight simulation didn?t bore enough Amstrad users Cascade created a sequel and dubbed it "The ultimate combat simulator".
As we mentioned in the first ACE review I am not a huge fan of the old flight simulator series even if you can shoot things down but I won?t let that get in the way of this review - the best advice is try the game for yourselves (as always) because no two people think alike.
Graphics
There have certainly been a few changes made since the first version of ACE was released, Cascade have now added a split-screen style combat feel to the game so that you can either play against the computer or against a friend or family member. The colours have also been improved a little as have the graphics but other than thest small changes the game pretty much remains the same.
Sound
Sound is slightly better in the sequel also, Cascade still haven?t added any introduction or in-game music but the actual gaming sounds have been upped slightly. The explosions sound a little bit better and there are guns going off right, left and center once the action starts flying, while it?s still a long way off when compared to Afterburner for example a little more effort has been put into this one.
Gameplay
ACE 2 is pretty much the same as the original game only with split-screen gameplay and slightly better graphics, as we mentioned in the earlier review some people did actually like this game so all we can say is if you like your flight/combat simulators this one might be worth checking out, if you?re a die-hard fan then certainly you?re welcome to download a copy.
There is nothing overly impresive about this game despite being written in 1987 but then again Cascade have yet to impress us on any score so we half expected it.
