Bridge-It

Another of those "Not For Resale, Given FREE" cassette tapes that Amsoft pushed in your direction on purchase of your CPC gets the CPC Zone review treatment, here?s the story from the inlay:
You live in a town where every house is surrounded by water. This made visiting friends very difficult until some bright spark built a number of bridges to help people get around. The aim of the game is to get from a house on one side of the town to the other side, you control the bridges so it is up to you to get you and your friends across safely. But you must take care for the bridges are treacherous and one mistake can be disastrous.
Sounds simple enought doesn?t it, well as you?ll find out in the review the story is a lot better than the game.
Graphics
Bridge-it is all about timing, providing you can hit the right key at the right time without drowning those poor little guys you should be okay - the only trouble is that no sooner have you got one guy half way down the level another idiot steps out behind him!
The graphics are fine and certainly when you consider that the game was developed in 1984 - certainly better than most Atari 2600 games at that time. A good amount of colour has been used on the backgrounds and indeed the objects around the level so you never find yourself squinting to try and make out objects on the screen. Your players don?t suffer from the hollow bug (invisible on certain backgrounds) and in a game such as Bridge-It this is an essential thing.
Sound
There are no in-game sounds to be heard and the only audio you are treated/cursed with is a computer tracked song to bop along to - although you will loose concentration with the music playing.
Gameplay
As for gameplay well Bridge-It wasn?t designed for younger children as there is simply no way you can complete the game without a million pairs of hands or a cheat to put all the bridges down at once. The good thing however is that you can start on any of the 9 levels and have up to 50 lives in the game (no trainer required) but you can obviously see why this option was added.
