Bubble Bobble

If anyone reading this does not know about the whole Taito Bubble Bobble gaming series then you are obviously not true retrogamers, these little guys have been around for a long time and even today they pop-up now and again in the manic puzzle genre. This is there first outing that debuted on many home computers and of course the NES.
Graphics
Bubble Bobble is a wonderful conversion in terms of graphics, the game looks almost exactly like the Nintendo Entertainment System version which in turn looks pretty much like the arcade coin op. Colours are varied from level to level, each stage has been perfectly recreated on the CPC and all of those nasties are in exactly the same place.
Even potential bugs such as our main heroes hiding behind the backgrounds or slowing down of gameplay when things get a little hectic have been avoided, all in all this is a wonderful looking conversion.
Sound
Sound is a slight let down as all music in the game has been dropped from the CPC version, don?t despair too much though as all the in-game sounds remain 100% in tact and the game is still as enjoyable as any other conversion. In fact the loss of music has lowered some of the more annoying factors of the game in my honest opinion.
Gameplay
If you have ever played the game in the arcades or on the NES then you will already be aware of how big a following this title had. You either loved it, hated it or just didn?t care about it. I was one of the later when the game was released for the NES but my friends (particularly the girls) loved the game to bits and on second chance of playing it I can say that it certainly isn?t a bad little game at all.
This is one title worth checking out if you have never played it and one to add to your collection of you?re a bubble bobble fan. A superb conversion by Firebird presented wonderfuly on the CPC.
