Yep the egg that nevers gets cracked, crushed or eaten by us human beings is back once again in another Codemasters title (and you though Core went over the top with Tomb Raider).

Instead of the usual adventure games that Dizzy has starred in the past this time he is been resurrected to star in a very difficult and frustrating platform game. You have somehow fallen down a large hole full of water and must find a way back to the top or face a life of doom and gloom as a goldfish. This is made possible by bubbles that rise from the bottom of the whole, since Dizzy is only lightweight egg he can jump on the bubbles and rise to the next platform, the only trouble is that bubbles burst when they reach a certain height so you have to make snappy judegements to land on the platforms at either side...ooh and avoid the nasties that lay about too.

Another Codemasters great or a flop in the Dizzy market?

Graphics

As mentioned earlier this game is all about timing and keeping an eye on the screen, jump on a bubble, rise to a higher level then jump off again. Obviously the game isn?t that simple as you never can tell how far a bubble is going to rise before it bursts and you may quickly end up back on the bottom of the hole.

The graphics are great, though at first you would be forgiven for thinking that this is the best Codemasters have done throughout the game. The colours change for each level you complete and more of those nasty sea creatures arrive on screen, take a look at the whale on the screenshot to the right of this review - very clever cartoon colours.

Sound

Sound, well there isn?t much to write home about in this game. Of course you are given warning sounds when you hit another object on the screen as your energy depletes and maybe the occasional whistle hear and there but other than that you may as well turn the sound down and play without it. Codemasters once again didn?t write a soundtrack for the Amstrad version of this game - strange I know but what can you do now, it was written in 1991.

Gameplay

The most important thing in a game is how well it plays and whether it makes you come back for more. Well although Bubble Dizzy is nothing like the other Dizzy adventure games it does make you want to play the game, you simply must get from the bottom to the top - it?s hard to explain but Bubble Dizzy is a fairly challenging and addictive little game indeed.
