Here is an interesting twist on the puzzle action game genre, you play the part of a ghost who has only one job, to get a range of bubbles from one side of the room to the next. Sound simple? well you will have to avoid the walls, spikes, flames and other traps that lay in wait to make your challenge that little bit harder.

Graphics

At first glance the game might look like something from the ZX Spectrum with only basic blacks and whites being shown on screen. First of all, given the location of the game and the fact that your main character is a ghost this can only be expected, second of all once you start to move around the levels (see screen grabs) the colours become much more varied and the level of detail on offer in each room is stepped up.

Our main character looks great and is certainly well animated, just look at how angry he looks when you fail and how happy he is when you make it for proof of this. The levels are well designed and although in the first few stages they might not be taxing it certainly steps up the difficulty later in the game.

Sound

Bubble Ghost doesn?t disappoint in the sound department either as we are treated to everything seen in the C64 version of the game and plenty of sound effects during the game itself, a very good job indeedy.

Gameplay

Gameplay is again very good, the idea of getting a bubble from one side to another might not sound like fun but its a very addictive game once you get into it and it?s so easy to pick up and play that is simply has to be played more than once.

Though the game never appeared in my main collection during my Amstrad CPC years it certainly would have done if it was in stock at the stonkingly good £2.99 range, I highly recommend this title to anyone who fancies a change in their puzzle games.
