Now here is a game that most of you will be familiar with, providing you have followed any kind of Public Domain range of software either on the PC or the Amiga. The idea is simple, guide character from one side of the screen to the other without falling off the platforms, the difference is that you can?t walk or climb so you will have to bounce your way to freedom and watch out for the traps on the way.

Graphics

The first thing I saw when bumpy loaded was an image of those old game and watch games by Nintendo from the early 1990s and late 1980s as it reminded me so much of the graphical style used in those pocket sized games.

The colours are basic but they certainly do the job to set the mood of the level and add levels of detail to the various platforms and traps that lay ahead. There is nothing super special in Bumpy but the game itself defeats the need for great looking graphics anyway, not that there is anything bad about the graphics of the game but at the same time there is nothing to make you go wow!

There are a few nice touches though such as the platforms that disolve and the walls that break when you hit them, levels are well laid out also which only makes the game that little bit more addictive and challenging. Very well done we would say.

Sound

Sound is great, we are treated to a very blues sounding introduction theme which upon hitting fire automatically finishes the track (instead of just going dead) and the game is instantly on screen. The game itself has all the bouncing sounds you would expect and many more, from disolving platforms to breaking through walls this game has a sound for everything, again - well done.

Gameplay

Now looking at the screengrabs below you might not think the game is that good but you should never judge a game soley on how it looks, it?s also about how the game plays and in this case it plays realy well. Bumpy is an addictive platform puzzler that will almost certainly have you coming back for more and trying to complete it, the levels are wide and varied, difficulty ranges from easy to hard and easy again, plus the game can be picked up by anyone and played with ease.

There are no major glitches and the controls are a delight to play with, this is one to add to your collections.
