Camelot Warriors

Now before people correct me stating that the game was released by Mastertronic, the actual copyright belongs to Dinamic on this one. Ok, so it?s back in the middle ages, nasty beasts such as swamp monsters, flying hawks, giant dragons and black magic preachers surrounded the local forest. So who do you think gets to go on a mission in those dark places? yes you guessed it - grab your sword and armour, it?s dangerous out there!
Graphics
Camelot Warriors is nothing short of stunning, the graphics hit you from the moment you hit J on your keyboard. The colours are varied and used well to give a sense of realism and detail to the wooded area, enemies are pretty random and there are plenty of various nasties to behead with your sword on your travels, animation of everything (even swamp gas) has been implemented to the various areas of the game and it all adds up to some pretty impressive stuff. It certainly wouldn?t look out of place in a PD library put it that way.
Now the bad side (yes there is always one) is that the animation can sometimes be thrown into crazy mode and you might find your character jumping off things constantly and without your intervention before seeing the lovely Game Over screen. While this only happens occasionaly it is still pretty annoying when it does.
Sound
Sound is on great form, we are treated to some lovely Medieval music at the start of the game which of course is switched off when you hit the J or K button on your keyboard. Don?t worry though as the game is littered with sounds to make up for what seems like a very tiny loss indeed. Good stuff once again from Dinamic.
Gameplay
The game itself is pretty neat, you get to attack goblins, flying hawks, talk to wizards and much more in what is a pretty entertaining platform adventure. You are granted 6 lives to play the game with and although it might not seem like much by todays standards that was a hell of a lot back in the 1980s and I?m sure hardcore gamers will breeze through it anyway.
As we mentioned earlier the game isn?t without faults and the most annoying is when you character has a mind of his own and decides to commit suicide without your help, this could be a glitch in the graphics or the control system but either way it can be annoying when you reach that final part and suddenly find you lost 6 lives without even doing anything!
Camelot Warriors certainly looks and sounds that part and is without a doubt an enjoyable platformer, worth checking out.
