Doors of Doom is the first out of 3 games on the first disk of the Amsoft Gold games pack which I can only guess was given away free with the Amstrad 464+ and the story line is one in which I am not aware of.

My guess is that you have landed on a strange planet full of very weird alien creatures and armed with a laser you must fight and jump your way through the many levels of various difficulty. It?s another good excuse for Amsoft to resurrect the already over-used Roland like cartoon character in yet another platform game but without the grace and style that Roland On The Ropes has.

Anyway, on with the review I hear you cry...so here goes.

Graphics

Doors Of Doom is your average jump, run and shoot platform adventure starring a character that looks like he has been modelled on the earlier Roland games.

The graphics are well drawn, bright but not so colorful as the use of yellow has been overdone (take a look at the screenshots) and your character sometimes gets lost in the background.

Sound

The sound is average and certainly not as active as I would have liked it to be, in fact the only real sound we are given is the laser that our hero fires from time to time.

Gameplay

Controls are awkward and if you have never played the original (on the real thing) then you may have problems mastering the keys and getting our little character to do what you want before he is murdered by aliens - wouldn?t be a terrible thing though.

As Doors Of Doom is given away free with the computer we cannot complain about how strange, difficult and low colour it is but I would recommend you jump to the next game in the pack after about 5/10 minutes of giving it a go.
