Yet another football game arrives for your Amstrad CPC and yet another company tries to bring the "big" game into your home even though most of us know the only way to truly live the game is to go outside and play the thing.

This time around the massive sporting giant Adidas strapped their name to the biggest sport ever in the hope of earning some quick and easy money from us video game players, did we get the game we expected? lets find out below...

Graphics

From the first loading screen onwards you know that graphically this game should be great and with a name like Adidas behind it what more could you expect. There are plenty of really good still screens and other images to look at while you are setting up your player formation and other various bits and pieces, once you get to play the actuall game however you might be a little disappointed as many of the Codemasters football games look and play better than this one. There are some really bright colours on show and a nice large playing area but the game suffers from the occasional slow-down and it?s often hard to see were the ball actually is on screen (perhaps on outline around the ball might be a good idea next time guys).

Sound

Sound wise, well this is were it all picks up again as there are plenty and we do mean plenty of various music tracks to listen to while you are setting up your game and on the introduction screen itself. The sound effects in the game are also pretty great as there is nothing overly distractive and just the right amount to keep the player glued to the screen, a very good job indeed by Ocean.

Gameplay

As for gameplay, well Adidas Championship Football tries ot mix both the managerial side of football and the actual kicking the ball around the field side together as one game. You are given a whole lot of options to choose from once you select your team (there aren?t many to select from though) and unlike other management games you are in control of how the game plays because you play for your team (rather than have the computer do it for you). It?s not as fast as some other football games and because of this the game is made that little bit more difficult, some see this as a good thing and others don?t.

Some people won?t like this hybrid as they prefer either one style of game to the other but it?s well and truly worth checking out if only to see how the two differenty styles have been combined. We say get it and see for yourselves as some of you might like it more than others.
