The year is 1939. You are the commander of the German pocket battle ship, the Admiral Graf Spee.

Your ship is armed with 6 eleven inch guns and torpedo tubes and your orders are to sink as many enemies as possible. Using the cursor keys to navigate your ship and various other keyboard commands this game shows some sign of playability - but does it?

Graphics

Although Admiral Graf Spee was developed by one of the most heralded software companies here at CPC Zone the game itself offers little to the end user, here?s why.

Graphics wise the game is simply a map with statistics on the right and bottom half of the screen, the Amstrad will prompt you for directions in which you can move your ship and give you the option to fire once you come close to the enemy. Other than a few tiny drawings of ships it really is as basic as strategy games got on your beloved Amstrad CPC, nothing new to offer at all.

Sound

The sound is only slightly better than the graphics with some music blasting out of that tiny CPC speaker every now and again plus the promise of a few explosions here and there. It?s not overly exciting stuff but considering most other strategy games on the CPC had little to no sound at all it?s got to be worth at least a point.

Gameplay

Now the most vital of all, gameplay, well Admiral Graf Spee has almost nothing to offer the casual gamer at all and we are possitive that the replay value of this game is pretty low. All you are prompted to do is move a tiny dot around a map and get the occasional chance of either being blown up yourself or detroy the enemy ships that occasionally pop onto your map.

Those that love strategy games of this type might want to give it a try anyway but we strongly advise against it unless you are having trouble sleeping at nights.
