Oh dear, it?s happened again, Quasimodo is doomed to another fatal challenge in order to get back his darling Ezmeralda (spelt wrong?) from the clutches of evil. The bizarre twist is that you are the only person who can save her now and must face a set of challenging levels.

The sequel is nothing like the original game and it?s much harder, rather than having to jump from end of the screen to the other and ring a bell you now have to collect bells as you go along each platform while avoiding bats, spears and other nasty objects.

Yes it?s tough but it does make for a more interesting, addictive and challenging game for the more mature audience, here comes the CPC Zone review.

Graphics

Well Hunchback was one of my all time favourite Amsoft/Ocean releases as the game was so easy to get into and play, even my younger brother (who at the time of playing this on the real machine was about 8) could pick up the joystick and away he would go.

The graphics are great (although not as good as Hunchback 1) and again a select set of colours has been used throughout the game to give a dark, damp dungeon like feel to the game. Those who have played the C64 version will notice a few details missing from the CPC version (the background walls etc) but it doesn?t distract you from playing this all time classic.

Sound

The sound is also pretty good if a little annoying after a while (bing, bing, bing - you get the picture) and the music is also bang on (the death march is always cool when you die!) and it has been used to the best of its ability in this game.

Gameplay

Playability is also great because like I said anyone can pick up a joystick or sit at a keyboard and play this game, it?s very addictive and the controls are certainly not complicated (left, right, up, down and fire). Hunchback 2 is one of the best classic Amsoft/Ocean games to date.
