In Adventure Quest by Level 9 Computing you must find and defeat the Demon Lord Agaliarept by using English phrases and letters.

You start your quest at the end of a road outside a small brick building. A river flows south through a narrow valley and there is dense woodland all around. What you do next is entirely up to you in this long text adventure from the software house that doesn?t give up this style of game easily.

Here?s the review....

Graphics

Adventure Quest is just a simple text adventure like many others with the major drawback of not containing any in-game graphics or illustrations what so ever. Considering text adventures dating back to the BBC Microcomputer had some sort of graphical illustration to help keep the player happy and interested this is a major kick in the painful area for the Amstrad gamers.

Sound

Like the graphics, the sound is nowere to be heard. I guess Level 9 don?t think that sound is important as they also forgot to add it to Adrian Mole also.

Gameplay

As for gameplay, well if you enjoy type N, S, E, W, Pick Up, Drop, Open etc over and over again into a command line prompt then fair play to you but for the rest of us this game has nothing to offer you at all. While the story is probably interesting the lack of graphics and sound brings the whole thing crashing to the ground leaving a massive crater behind it.

Adventure Quest is far from being the most entertaining text adventure available and we would advise that even the most die-hard fans leave this one alone.
