As Strider; your task is to infiltrate the Rusian Red Army (see) and return enemy secrets to your superiors. Your mission begins in Red Square, and after fighting KGB attacks there, you must battle your way to the snow capped peaks of Siberia, to confront both the elements and the enemy.

If your survive this icy test, your orders are to proceed to the southern lowlands, where jungle tribes lurk with spears and poisoned arrows. Then return to Moscow to face the Grand Master of the Red Army - the future of the western world depends on your succes in this ultimate confrontation.

"The best in heart pounding arcade ation" said Your Commodore, "Fast action, great graphics and addictive, challenging gameplay makes this the best Amstrad game around" said C&VG - what does CPC Zone say? find out below.

Graphics

The original arcade game has since been emulated by the development team behind Callus but this is the original computer conversion to the CPC and we shouldn?t judge it too much against the original arcade - nothing can truly come that close to the original.

The graphics in this CPC conversion are indeed awesome and I do agree with C&VG?s statement as the characters from the arcade are transferred by the excellent development team behind this conversion. Colours are a little dark but it all depends on your location, remember that in the first 2-3 levels you are inside the Red base and it would indeed be poorly lit. The levels have been converted with little to no changes what so ever to the layout and it all looks great.

Sound

Sound is what we have come to expect by now from the Capcom team as the arcade music is converted almost flawlessly with a deep bass like sound and they have even added more music between the levels. Of course you get to hear the "swish" of Striders blade when he attacks the Russian enemy and there are plenty of other good sounds to be heard throughout the game.

Gameplay

Gameplay is just as good as the original Coin-Op, if you spent loads of money back then you?ll be coming back to the Amstrad CPC conversion again and again. The controls are just as good as the original arcade and never become too troublesome, the addiction factor of the original has been transferred as the music and characters are pretty much spot on. This is Capcom at it?s best.
