Wordhang is an educational game for the under 5?s but elder people can play it too by entering your own words via the menu and getting your friends/family to guess what it is.

The advantages of this game is that it teaches your child how to spell in a fun and practical way, created by the guys behind Timeman One and used in many schools across the UK this is the easiest and best way to teach your children a new skill.

Wordhang is aimed at children or those that have difficulty with spelling, so if you are over 5 years old or simply do not like Hangman type games it is recommended that you skip this one and get something a little more grown up instead.

Graphics

Wordhang is without a doubt a very nice piece of software that was given away free by the mighty Amsoft crew with the Amstrad 464 and used in many schools across the UK at the time of release. It can help you teach your children the skill or spelling by allowing them to guess the word on screen before the man on the right of the screen is fully drawn.

The graphics are basic in this game but you can?t expect much from a piece of software that is aimed at children and is to be used in schools. It isn?t meant to get you hooked on the game otherwise you would never concentrate on your other school work and you?ll be wanting to play this all day instead. Having said that it?s very friendly indeed and I doubt that a game of this genre could have been made any better in terms of graphics without being unsuitable for children (it?s target audience).

Sound

Sound is again pretty average but when you get a letter right a nice piece of music plays to congratulate you, when you get a letter wrong a low tone is sounded and another body part is drawn on screen.

Gameplay

Gameplay is just superb, if your children manage to get all of the words in the large database correct and have nothing else to play with simply enter your own words with the option available via the main menu. You can enter any word you wish and get your children to guess along with you, take a look at the bottom right screen shot to see what we mean.

What this does is make the game infinite in time, you can always enter new words therefore the game is always going to be playable. You can even play against your family by entering much more adult words into the database, they of course won?t be saved to the cassette/disk but it makes the game open to wider audiences.
