Chimera

Investigations have traced the source of erratic radio signals to a giant alien vessel, orbiting the Earth high in the atmosphere. That the craft is hostile, there is no doubt; somebody will have to go aboard and find out how to eliminate the threat.
Guess who gets the job ?
Graphics
Chimera is yet another of the increasingly released 3D adventure games after the huge success of previous games by other developers, who can blame Firebird for jumping onboard?
Chimera however does not look quite as polished as the other 3D adventures you may have played, these include Ocean Softwares Batman adventure which featured some stunning animation and clear, varied colours. Chimera on the other hand features a hand full of colours which are not that evenly spread and graphics that are a little on the chunky side. The game also suffers from far more slow-down than other adventures which can be a little distracting.
We know graphics are not everything when selecting a good game and those that read this site on a regular basis will be aware of this but we can?t help wonder what happened during development and why these limitations where imposed on the graphical engine. It?s not bad but then again it?s not that good either.
Sound
The music in Chimera is much better however than in some other 3D adventures and is a little longer than most too. Sound is a little thin though and makes far less of an impact than those in previous games. Again it kind of sits in the middle of the road and is almost frightened of jumping over the mid section.
Gameplay
With the graphical problems and lacking sound already covered we now move on to the control system. Firebird did the smart thing and allowed you to change the keyboard controls to match your needs and this certainly allows you to get round awkward problems that are found in other games so there are no problems on this front.
Those that have previously played games such as Batman (the 3D adventure) will probably not get that much of a kick out of this title because it simply doesn?t move along fast enough and certainly doesn?t look as good as Batman. However those that are new to the 3D adventure phenomenon will probably appreciate the title much more and quite likely have fond memories of this game.
All in all the game is above average but lacks some features found in similar titles.
