In the era of Prohibition, Flappers and Gangsters, Cop-Out portrays the battle between the Police and Mobsters in the roaring 1920s. Our fearless protectors of the law (yeah right) fight the daily struggle against the ruthless Mafia throughout the United States of America .

Can you survive as a cop on the streets, battling against the bootleggers, or will you Cop Out?

Graphics

Cop Out has the basic look and feel of your average arcade shooter (we are talking Operation Wolf of course and not House Of The Dead or Time Crisis) and those that have ever played the classic Cabal will feel right at home with the look of this title.

Our character is displayed running along the bottom of a single screen level and you take control of the gun sight and point it at the bad guys who pop-up through the windows and around the corners of each alley. Colours are quite nice and vivid given the age of the game and with each level offering something different to look at and shoot you soon realise that a fair amount of effort has gone into the production of this title.

Sound

Sound on the other hand is a little bit of a let down, yes we do get some introduction music but there is only so many times you can hear the song "The Entertainer" in one lifetime and although it fits the 1920s era quite nicely it is not a track we would associate with shooting people in the head wearing a cop uniform. Other sounds range from a tiny bang to a bleep and aren?t worh writing much about, bit of a shame realy.

Gameplay

You take on the Mafia in the 1920s and patrol the streets with your handgun at the ready, all of a sudden people start jumping out of windows and shooting at you. It?s your life or theirs so the only thing for it is to shoot back.

As we mentioned earlier this is very similar to Cabal by Ocean Software in that you can see your character on screen at all times and are able to run back and forth to avoid the oncoming enemy fire. Unlike Cabal however the game feels much easier to play and seems a little faster too, this is one arcade shooter you must add to your collection.
