Corsarios

Set way back in the times where pirates only existed in the waters and sailed ships to find gold (as opposed to a very different kind of piracy) you take on the guys with dodgy eyes and one leg in this wild and testing beat-em-up by OperaSoft. Grab your head band and lets do some kicking.
Graphics
Corsarius is certainly not a competitor to the likes of Golden Axe or even Double Dragon which both saw the light of day on our CPC. The colours are pretty accurate and help set the tone of the pirate era though some might say they are a little bland and do not provide any kind of impact to the gaming experience.
Our problem lies with the animation, it is very basic indeed and barely stretches beyond 4 frames. Though the game plays at a reasonable speed and the way that a 3D depth has been added to the game works on some levels it just simply doesn?t match up to expectations. Once you play the game for yourselves you will see what we mean.
Sound
Sound is farily nice to be honest, we are treated to a very cool piece of introduction music that deserves to be listened to before starting your game. After this we are left with an average in-game soundtrack and only a few sounds to be heard here and there, it?s not bad though and certainly won?t stop you from playing the game or make you reach for the volume control.
Gameplay
The old method of punch-kick fits in nicely with this title as that is the only way you are going to defeat your opponents and our hero is very limited to what he can do. Considering the other characters can do a lot more to harm you then you can to harm them it makes for a very frustrating and extremely difficult little beat-em-up.
As you might have guessed, the control system is very basic and the only thing you can do to defend yourself is punch and kick your way through the bad guys, which rapidly get more and more difficult throughout the levels. It certainly won?t go down well with those who have temper problems or those that hated the whole Double Dragon era but a few of our readers might very well be fans of the game.
In this scenario I can only recommend that fans grab it, people that don?t like Double Dragon leave it and the rest of you make your own minds up about the game.
