Cowboy Kidz

Back in the good old days of Texas when we all used to ride to work on horses and have entertaining afternoons watching draws at noon, we also had to defend our money and steal it at the same time. Riding along side a train full of cash fending off robbers is no easy task, but someone is going to have to do it and that someone is you.
Graphics
Surprisingly the graphics on display in Activemagics little action game are pretty nice and look on a par with the western scenes found in the much higher budget Back To The Future 3 by Image Works.
Colours are nice and vivid while remaining to be what you though they would be like when you started the game, yellows used for the ground, brown for the rocks and multiple colours for the characters and the train you are protecting.
The game does have a few issues though as it has a habit of slowing down when 2 or 3 enemies come into play at once, this is of course coupled with the animated train and yourself which I suppose might just be enough for some slow down to take affect.
The collision detection is also a little off though, if you so much as walk along side a rock for example you will most likely loose a life, you get used to it after the 3rd attempt but it is still there.
Sound
Sound is excellent, well I say sound but what I mean to say is the music. We are treated to a good old western classic that has been featured in many of those camp movies starring Mr Eastwood, those that live and breathe on the same planet as me will recognise it instantly. In-game effects are dead on arrival though.
Gameplay
Think of this game as a cross between Commando and Ikari Warriors only with our hero on horseback and set in the old west. All you have to do is avoid the oncoming enemies and protect the train from being robbed, I know it sounds simple but it soon gets more difficult than you at first imagine.
Trying to fire in any direction but forward can be tricky and considering the enemy attack from all directions you might want to practice this first.
Cowboy Kidz is a basic little action game that can quickly fill 20-30 minutes of your day and comes highly recommended by CPC Zone.
