Space Pirates have decided to take away your cargo, you cannot let them get away with this act and so decide to raid their ship, get back your cargo and teach them all a lesson while you?re at it. To help you in your mission you will have state of the art weapons and one hell of a fast spacecraft.
Graphics
Cybernoid is certainly a graphicaly pleasing piece of Amstrad gaming with a massive use of the CPC colour pallete, great detail being scattered around the levels of the pirates space craft and an awesome array of enemies attacking you from all angles. This is one title that had a fairly large amount of effort put into the thought before being released to the general public.
Sadly not all the bugs in the game had been ironed out before final release and the game does suffer from some tremendous slow-down once the screen becomes packed with activity and more than 5-6 weapons are going off at once, this isn?t a massive problem but it can be annoying when it happens.
Sound
Sound is awesome, we are presented with a very nice piece of music at the front of the game - well and truly worth listening to, which is closely followed by some seriously action packed and active sound effects for the game itself. This kind of game feeds of this kind of soundtrack and Hewson deliver in spades.
Gameplay
Cybernoids control system is very similar to that found in the TV licensed game Airwolf and the arcade classic Thrust, though various improvements have been made and it is far less annoying trying to get through gaps in walls and avoid enemy fire.
There is no doubt that shoot-em-up and action fans will fall instantly in love with this title and it was a huge success on both the 8-bit and 16-bit machines back in the 80s and early 90s. We here at CPC Zone can only recommend you give it a try!
