Fu-Kung in Las Vegas

An undercover US Marshall has to check out all the casinos in Vegas to see if theyâ??re honest. To do this you must pick up all the playing cards in each casino jumping across the chasms between platforms and avoiding all the on-screen nasties.
Panned on release by Amstrad Action, has Fu-Kung matured like a fine wine or is it starting to smell like a dead dog in the heat?
Graphics
The graphics are hideously blocky and slow moving. Your character (think of a stereotypical Chinese man â?? pointy hat and all) moves at a pace slighter slower than a tortoise and his jumps are almost Matrix like in hang-time. The animation is crude to the point of non-existent and the whole thing looks like a complex type-in rather than a commercial game.
Youâ??ve got to love that dull grey background too. Iâ??ve never been to Vegas but I doubt that every casino (or indeed any!) has a military grey paint jobâ?¦
Sound
A nasty whining accompanies each jump and your footsteps around the room each time you walk. Hardly conjures up images of Vegas does it. Even a little tune wouldâ??ve helped raise the game slightly.
Gameplay
As if you hadnâ??t gathered already, Fu-Kung In Las Vegas is awful. There is absolutely no excuse for a game being so completely devoid of playability and fun. Timing is beyond anal. If youâ??re not standing on the EXACT spot to complete a jump then youâ??ve no chance whatsoever of making the leap and will instead find yourself put back to the start of the screen. This makes proceedings beyond frustrating.
And thatâ??s really all there is to the game. Jump over hazards and pick up the playing cards. There are no innovations in gameplay or quirks in this program.
There are two difficulty levels: hard and easy neither of which make the game more appealing than the other.
All in all one of the very worst games ever released for the Amstrad and Amsoft had the absolute gall to charge £8.95 for this on its release. I just canâ??t comprehend anyone being bold enough to think they could get away with thisâ?¦
