Graphics
Alkahera takes on the "Star Wars" style approach to the shoot-em-up genre in which you are sitting inside the cockpit of a fighter machine in space and you must defend yourself from oncoming objects (more on this later). Because of this the amount of colours needed can be reduced to just a few on the display of the dashboard and any oncoming attacks, this has certainly been utilized in Alkahera which has also helped to keep the frame rate up to scratch. Other games of this genre made the mistake of adding rendered backgrounds and floors to the view infront, Alkahera isn?t one of those games which can only make fans happy.
Sound
The sound is pretty active from the moment it finishes loading, though some players should be aware that it looks as if the game has crashed on the appearance of the title screen - press your fire button to progress.
Gameplay
As for gameplay fans of the Star Wars games (released many years later) will be more than familiar with the style of shoot-em-up Alkahera is and so should be able to pick up the joystick and instantly enjoy this classic. At first the game may seem like it isn?t moving anywere and we must warn you that this isn?t just a game that sits you straight in front of a battlefield and it may take a while before anything even comes close to attacking you.
It?s not as fast paced as other shoot-em-ups with a similar style but well worth checking out.
