An arkanoid clone with a difference, Mazie cranks up the difficulty level and lets loose a frantic bat and ball game played at a high pace with lots of bonuses and baddies to collect and avoid.

Graphics

Very blocky but full of colours, Mazie is certainly eye catching if not exactly pleasant to look at. Thereâ??s lots going on in the screen and each level promises something different to see. The bat and ball dynamics are certainly serviceable but are no match for itâ??s Arkanoid inspirations.

At times the screen can become very cluttered and confusing but despite this there are no noticeable slowdowns. A rarity in a game of this nature.

Sound

A plethora of crashes, bangs, whizzes and whoops. The sound is used to excellent effect here to reflect an old-school arcade machine. A funky title screen tune follows into the beginning of the game too.

Gameplay

With five difficulty levels from Master to Beginner. Spread over 36 levels, Mazie certainly provides plenty of gameplay.

The main problem with Mazie though is that thereâ??s just too much going on to really take in whatâ??s happening. With the number of blocks that either reveal something or transport your ball etc, youâ??ll find yourself in a state of confusion as to why youâ??ve just lost a life or been moved to the next level.

On the plus side though, Mazieâ??s speed is incredible and if you are a fan of the old bat and ball games and want one with a twist then Iâ??d certainly recommend you give this one a go.
