Battle your way through a ruined city against an army of druids while avoiding the mines to reach the monument that will serve as a symbol of freedom for your people (possibly â?? I donâ??t know the plot Iâ??m having a guessâ?¦ if anyone knows the actually point of the game then feel free to let us know!)

Graphics

The graphics for Monument are excellent. Really well drawn characters and backgrounds (all in mode one) are done in such a way that although good to look at, the city is a believable ruin. The choice of colour helps illustrate this with a cold feel over all the graphics.

The human character is well animated too and jumps around the screen convincingly.

Sound

Restricted to footsteps and gunshots, Iâ??d give the producers the benefit of the doubt and say that they were trying to keep with the overall atmosphere.

Gameplay

Sadly, this is where the Monument collapses. Despite the slick visuals, Monument is just no fun to play with a high difficulty level that breeds frustration. Trust me, you soon lose count of how many times youâ??ve timed a jump perfectly on to be killed and put back to the start of the screen because the screen has been filled with enemy robots again. You constantly have to have the fire button jammed on which makes jumping hazards more difficult than it has to be.

A pity because the backgrounds and drawings make you want to go further into the game itâ??s only that the insane difficulty level stops you making the progress that you want to.
