SPECTRE (Society for the Prevention of Ectoplasmic Crime, Telekinetic misuse and Reality Endangerment) has sent their top ghost Blinky to investigate the hideout of Arthur J. Hackensack â?? the raised wreck of the Titanic.

Blinky must jump and shoot his way around a series of platforms and underwater adventures to find out just what heâ??s up to in this follow-up to Blinkyâ??s Spook School (a game which was never released on the CPC).

Graphics

Titanic Blinky boasts some of the best graphics ever premiered on a budget label in the UK. The sprites are all really well drawn and an obvious attention to detail has been applied. A nice use of colour gives a very childrenâ??s cartoon feeling to proceedings and the graphics are perfect for the type of game and itâ??s target market.

Itâ??s clear to see what is going on at all times and the coders have done themselves proud.

Sound

Upon loading and immediate game playing, youâ??ll be convinced that Titanic Blinky has no sound, so much so that youâ??ll forget you have speakers cranked up to the max and just about mess yourself when the gameâ??s one lone sound effect chimes (when you pick up the musical notes). Strange that they bothered to programme one sound effect â?? either do sound or donâ??t!

Gameplay

Jump and run around platforms shooting the baddies and crustations that are on board to reveal the musical notes thatâ??ll allow you access to the shipâ??s interior, after that itâ??s on with the scuba gear as this game really kicks off.

Despite at first appearing a nice quirky game, gameplay soon becomes repetitive and itâ??s obviously aimed at the younger end of the spectrum as the difficulty level never really rises. Having said that, the game does offer enough to make you want to see what is coming around the next bend and you will find yourself being curiously drawn back.

Well worth a look, however, the game does have a nasty tendency to crash â?? particularly in the underwater section.
