Amelie Minuit is much like your average typical teenage girl who just wants to have fun and adventure, she certainly does that in this strange adventure game from ERE. Unlike other adventures on the CPC this one blends the elements found in your average text adventure game and combines them with other adventure game such as Monkey Island - you?ll see what we mean in the review.
On we go....
Graphics
Amelie Minuit is certainly a colourful little adventure game with plenty to feast your eyes on, unlike many other poor adventure games on the CPC that just throw text in your face and nothing else. The game looks like those mazes you used to roam around (Sultans Maze etc) in terms of room design etc only ERE have placed a pretty badly animated Victoria Beckam lookalike over the top and added some other cool bits and pieces here and there. Not amazing but certainly not bad in any sense.
Sound
Sound wise the game is a little flat, okay you?ll get to hear the occasional beep as you go up and down in the elevator and maybe the odd door slam here and there but there is nothing over the top or revolutionary in this adventure. Having said that it?s far better than most other adventure sound systems on the CPC so most of you will at least appreciate that fact.
Gameplay
As for the game, well again it?s not written in English and we can?t understand much about the game other than walking about the building and trying to guess what the computer is trying to tell us about certain objects.
The animation of our lead character is a little naff and you?ll wonder at first if your keyboard and joystick are still working because of the horendous frame rate offered by the games engine. There are plenty of good looking rooms on offer and providing you speak French (I think) you?ll be able to understand the game a whole lot more and may get some fun out of it.
If you understand it, try it - otherwise for those that only speak English leave it alone.
