From dry arid deserts, to sweltering volcanic jungles, agents of the courageous MASK team track the evil forces of VENOM on the path of havoc and destruction. Man and Machine in valiant defence of the world and its treasures. Action packed adventures and danger filled missions set an exhilarating challenge to all gamers whatever their interests.
Graphics
There are some very colourful graphics on display in this game, and the vehicles are very recognisable to MASK fans. Not much to grumble about here... nothing spectacular, but nothing awful either.
Sound
The character select screen has a good rendition of the Mask theme. During the game there are only bog-standard explosion effects. It would have been nice to have a sound for the vehicle transformations.
Gameplay
Traversing the game?s torrain requires that you select the correct vehicles for the job. For instance, the first level has both land and water, and also some high platforms that need to be reached. The Gator vehicle is very useful here, as it a jeep that can drive across land, but when you reach the water is transforms into a hydrofoil. For the high platforms, Condor or Thunderhawk are good, as they can both transform from land vehicles to aircraft. Along the way you can pick up extra armour and extra fuel.
Overall, MASK II isn?t a classic, but it?s quite a fun shoot-em-up, with a little strategy when needing to choose and utilise the different vehicles. I quite enjoyed this game on my CPC, although I bought it for £2.99. If I had paid full price, I would probably have been disappointed.
