Total Recall

Whats this? A licence of an Arnie film which is very good!?!? Is it too good to be true? The magazines gave it better marks than licences from other Arnie film so have Ocean delivered a good Arnie film licence? The film sees the California Governor discover he has lost his memory but a trip to virtual hoilday company Recall brings back memories. This trip leads him into shootout after shootout with the occasional punch-up and wisecrack ("Consider it a divorce!" Arnie says after shooting Sharon Stone (whoever wrote that sequence deserves an Oscar) for example) thrown in for good measure which leads him deep under the pyamids of Mars to sort out Michael Ironside and Ronnie Cox - the evil mad guy who tried to have Robocop destroyed, replaced Jean-Luc Picard as captain of the Enterprise and tried to shut down Stargate SG-1. The game has three platform levels and two driving levels, all difficult.
Graphics
MODE 0 is used here. In the platform style levels, the sprites of the characters are big and detailed. Everything is well detailed and easy to see. In the car levels, you see it almost from above. These graphics are also MODE 0 and detailed, but not as big as the platform levels. But the graphics are very good and does feature a good representation of the graphics on the video cover/movie poster.
Sound
I can?t comment on the sound because my emulator wouldn?t play the sound.
Gameplay
How does Ocean expect you to complete this game with only ONE life?? This is very hard but also very addictive. I kept coming back to play it again and again, despite never getting off level 1 (I had to cheat to see the other levels).
For once, a good game based on an Arnie film licence.
