The final film of the original Star Wars Trilogy sees the Rebel Alliance goto the Endor system to destroy the second Death Star, which they believe is not yet operational. But the Emperour allowed them to know the location of a shield generator which protects the Death Star and has laid a trap for the Rebels who have gone to destroy the generator including Han Solo and Princess Leia. Luke must face Darth Vader and the Emperour while Lando Calrissian flies the Millenium Falcon, leading the fight in space.

In this game, you control Princess Leia on the speeders as you escape the Imperial troops, Chewbacca in a captured AT-ST walker who tries to get to the shield generator (where Han pulls one of the oldest tricks in the book and the Imperials fall for it) and Lando in the Falcon in space fighting Tie fighters with the help of two X-Wings and then later, navigate the tunnels of the Death Star to destroy the power core and then escape. Return of the Jedi was my favourite of the star Wars films until Attack of the Clones came out. Will I feel the same about the game?

Graphics

Instead of the MODE 1 vector graphics that dominated Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back, we get a 3D view in MODE 0 colour. Some of the characters are reconisable - the AT-ST walker, Millenium Falcon and the sprites in the space battle for one. The speed is nice, but I think the speeder bike level is too slow (maybe because I?m spoilt by the level in Rebel Strike on the Gamecube).

Sound

Crap laser sounds dominate this game along with a bit of OK?ish music if you win a level.

Gameplay

Besides from The Empire Strikes Back, I wanted to play this game a bit more. The game is very easy to get into and there are difficulty levels to select.

OVERALL

Domark have done a good job with this licence, although The Empire Strikes Back is better. Download this and Empire Strikes Back to keep you into Star Wars until the Trilogy game comes out on the Gameboy Advance - either that or get a Gamecube and buy Rogue Squadron 2 and Rebel Strike.
